Join Shelley Gower and Tracy Ng as we delve into the practice of yoga. Discover, grow and create an understanding that will guide you and your students into a deeper exploration of the body, mind and spirit. The program will begin with the essentials, which is “physically” landing on your mat. Here you will learn the foundation and integration of poses. Each weekend will focus on a family of asanas and one chakra. As we move through the training together you will gain the skills to really see yourself and your students. Our program is designed to leave you with a solid understanding of how to be an effective and empowered yoga teacher.

JOURNEY THROUGH A UNIQUE AND IN DEPTH PROGRAM THAT INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING AREAS OF STUDY
Know your bones, muscles, joints and fascia to know the poses. Studying anatomy in order to create a better understanding of the yoga postures, key actions, alignment and individual body differences. We will study together to uncover how all the structures in our body interact each other to move us in and out of the poses. Each weekend we will deepen our understanding of both you’re own anatomy and your students within the asanas and beyond the mat.
Families of asanas, alignment, cueing, use of props and hands on assist
Each weekend we will explore a family of asanas, discuss the similarities in these poses from the point of view of key actions, muscular engagement opening of the body and various levels of the postures/kramas. We will come together to discuss use of props for the asanas, verbal cueing and physical hands on assists. Enhance your awareness of the poses by learning to create them will your hands as well as your voice.
Eastern Anatomy, Energetic body & the Chakras
Each weekend together explore a family of asanas related to the energetic body. We will move through the readings and teachings from Eastern Body, Western Mind and link the physical asana practice to the energetic body and the chakras.
Hatha & Vinyasa Sequencing
In depth exploration on how to sequence both hatha & vinyasa sequences, we will learn and practice both solar and lunar namaskars, 7 namaskars in total. Learn how to create classes that inspire, challenge and support the student on both the physical and the energetic levels.
Meditation, Pranayama, Kundalini, Chanting & Mudras
How do you sit with yourself? Just as the body is balance with movement, the mind becomes balance with stillness. We will explore and practice pranayama, kundalini, chanting, mudras and a number of meditations techniques. Using these powerful ancient tools we will shift, bring consciousness and healing to the energetic pathways of the body.
Yoga History & Philosophy
The rich heritage and wise philosophy of yoga deepens your own ability to self-reflect and give meaning and substance to your classes. Enjoying the stories and anecdotes provided to us by our teachers while studying these ancient texts.
Explore and find your doshas. Ayurveda is the sister science of yoga and shows us how to live in harmony with the seasons and our own innate nature/dosha. Learn how to create balance for yourself and how these teachings may impact both your self practice and the classes you create.
Attend all 8 weekends of the 200 hour program and fully commit to participate to your best ability on each of those weekends
Attend full moon and new moon classes on each month during the 8 month training period
Readings as assigned each weekend for homework, personal reflection and group sharing
Read and Reflect on each chapter of Eastern Body and Western Mind
Observe and Reflect on 3 public classes
Hands on Assists within 3 public classes and reflection of the experiences
Take home final exam
Teach one namaskar and your own sequence on the last weekend of the training
Shelley is a teacher of hatha & restorative yoga with over 15 years of experience. Much of her work is focused on teaching cancer survivors and students with trauma, physical limitations or injuries; sharing with her students, the benefits of a supportive, holistic, nourishing practice. Shelley teaches students to take one step at a time and learning to stay in the moment, instead of rushing into the next. Through her guidance, she shares how to reconnect with breath and body, allowing students to experience the layers of oneself on and off their mat.
Tracy has co taught the past 5 years of be yoga's teacher training. She brings 10 years of teaching experience with a love and passion of the teachings of yoga and how we carry the sacred teachings beyond our mat and the walls of the yoga studio. Tracy is skilled in vinyasa practice, energetic anatomy, pranayama, chanting and sequencing. She loves to assist the teacher trainers to learn to sequence intelligently both for the physical and energetic bodies. Tracy believes that be yoga belongs to the community and a place for us all to explore and find our true selves.
Deborah Bouttell is a Registered Massage Therapist, YTT200 with a full time private practice in the City of Burlington. Deborah has been practicing yoga for over 20 years and in 2016 after seeing the benefits of the practice both personally and professionally, decided to embark on her Yoga Teacher Training. She believes yoga therapy is the path forward in today’s sedentary society. She has taken extensive courses in Myofascial Meridians and teaches Myofascial Release Vinyasa.
She is passionate about anatomy of the human body and its functions and is fascinated by the relationship between eastern and western yoga anatomy philosophies. She tries to impress on her students the importance of learning anatomy in order to deepen their personal practice and help them feel comfortable assisting their students in safe and effective manner.

Be's Yoga Teacher Training is set to begin in september. I can already feel the excitement emanating from those already enrolled. It's palpable.
From my experience, Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) is not just about "teaching". In fact, it really should be called Yogi Education ... after all, it's about the learning.
When I committed to teacher training like this, what I was truly committing to was a number of things: change, self- exploration, self-discovery, developing an open mind and finding an open heart. What you will find over the course of teacher training is that all the assumptions you made about it and all the limitations you placed on yourself, and all the expectations you had of the process ... everything ... were pointless. It is a different reality for everyone. Yoga TT will put you into many uncomfortable situations; it will force you to stay in the moment and it will encourage you to keep struggling because you know it's all for a reason. The brilliant connections you will make with other students will be one of the most memorable and lasting benefits from your training.
For me, Yoga TT was just the beginning of a lifelong journey that I am grateful for every single day! When I finished my program, I didn't start teaching right away ... all I wanted to do was to practice more and explore as many different styles and classes and teachers as I could. It inspired me to do more, experience more and to learn even more about yoga. I cannot imagine where I would be right now if I didn't take that first step...
